Visit to the Marine Farm

Duration: 2 to 3 hours
Accompanied by a professional from the field, the group will receive guidance on how mariculture began and developed in the region. The tour includes a boat trip to observe scallop cultivation and the feeding of cobia fish.

Atlantic Forest

Duration: Half day
Stages:
• Lecture on geography and protected areas (Ilha Grande State Park, Tamoios Environmental Protection Area, Aventureiro Biological Reserve, etc.).
• Hike along trails on Ilha Grande (trail difficulty depending on students’ age and profile).
• Observation of Ilha Grande’s fauna and flora.
• Accompaniment by a professional (biologist, ecologist, geographer, etc.).

 

History of Angra dos Reis

Duration: Full day
Stages:
• Lecture on the history of Angra dos Reis and its surroundings.
• Visit to the Naval Academy.
• Visit to the Carmo Convent.
• Visit to the Aquidabã Monument.
• City tour in Angra dos Reis.
• Boat trip along the city’s shoreline.

 

Marine Biology and Snorkeling

Duration: Half day
Stages:
• Lecture on marine life.
• Snorkeling activity.
• Touch tank experience.
• Discussion on environmental impacts in Ilha Grande Bay.

 

Scuba Diving

Duration: Half day at the Diving School chosen by the school
and half day at Nautilus Inn
Stages:
• Theoretical class on diving at the Diving School.
• Practical pool class at the Diving School.
• Motivational class at the school.
• Discovery dive by boat or from the beach.
(Dive accompanied by an instructor, allowing interaction and observation of the marine environment.
Maximum depth: 9 meters. Estimated duration: 30 minutes.)

 

History of Ilha Grande

Duration: Full day
Stages:
• Lecture on the history of Ilha Grande Bay.
• Visit to Lazareto at Abraão Beach.
• Visit to the aqueduct at Abraão Beach.
• Explanations about piracy and the most famous shipwrecks.

 

IED BIG Scallop Laboratory

Duration: Half day or full day
Stages:
• Lecture on IED BIG and scallop cultivation.
• Visit to the laboratory.
• Visit to marine farms (for the full-day option).
